When I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, I realized two things;
1) life can be short and 2) I needed to focus more on myself and my body.
My son started Taekwondo first as part of a school club. He loved it so
much, he also started going to the academy at night. Instead of sitting in
the waiting room watching, I decided to try it. Although I have been a
member of the Taekwondo family for a short time, it has been a wonderful
outlet for me. It works both my mind and body and I love the interactions
with the other members. My son and I also have a great time practicing at
home together. I have no doubt it will be a part of our lives forever.

As Caitlin's mom I must say that her self-confidence, determination and focus have improved significantly. I admire how she motivates herself and others by saying, "Winners never quit and quitters never win." Caitlin spontaneously applies TaeKwonDo teachinges of honor, courtesy, self control, community, etc., many times throughout the week and out of the classroom setting. I believe it is a wholesome sport that teaches protection, builds confidence and encourages goodwill. Your academy does this in a fun way which is a plus!

When I walked into the Davis TaeKwonDo school in July of 2005, it was with the intention of giving my son a few lessons for his birthday. I had no idea that it was the beginning of a wonderful journey. My son was really thrilled at the opportunity to learn how to be a "ninja turtle", with "power ranger" moves. He took to TKD like a fish to water. Along the way, he learned that martial arts are not all about "the moves". He's learned to live by all the tenets of TKD and has learned how to incorportate them into his day-to-day life. He sees the importance of integrity and courtesy, honor, and courage. The school has given him a place in its and our community and shown him the importance of public performance. By moving up in rank and assisting his instructors, he's learned to help others along in their journey by being both a role model and amentor. He's persevered through ups and downs, schedule conflicts and life changes and this year, he earned his black belt. What my son learns in TKD does not stop at the door. The self confidence he's acquired through TKD has carried over into Soccer, Baseball and the third grade. His sense of community and responsibility is seen in how eager he is to visit and play with the animaols at the local animal shelter. In all, he's become a very well-rounded and well-adjusted kid. We learn in TKD that reaching black belt is not the ending, but is the beginning of one's journey. The past three years have been amazing. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Amanda's Mom - Janet Harris
Amanda loves costumes so when she wanted to take TKD lessons, I was sure that it was just to dress up. While that may have been her original purpose, she found much more purpose in the TKD classes. Amanda has gained a higher level of confidence and pride. She is motivated by the idea of reaching the next belt level. She is a very active child and TKD gives her an outlet for her energy, while at the same time teaching her better self control. I have been amazed by Amanda's enthusiasm for the sport and commitment to continue learning more. Thank you!
